Interesting - can you tell me more? Maybe some pics of the build process? I've been doing some aesthetic modifications lately (patinas, learning alcohol ink now), but would like to progress into actual mod building eventually.

Well... I spent time in the man cave (AKA garage) and worked on the Phoenix Mod a bit. Put the magnets in the enclosure, soldered the MOSFETS together, and segregated parts into a box for it. Still waiting on two critical parts to arrive before I do the layout on the case and drill holes. I'm kinda stuck until I get those parts. I will post pics as I go but so far I think it's a little underwhelming... unless y'all want me to.

Dude, there's nothing underwhelming about this - I'd LOVE to see the pics as your build progresses.

Update. It’s a little rough since I don’t have all the cool tools to do this on a regular basis but it will do its job.

Mainly wiring all the components and connectors (a lot of soldering, wire management, and placement of the 555 (soldering two capacitos and a resistor), MOSFET, fuses, and Schottky. Then charge up the batteries and use it. All of the components have been previously tested and we're working.

Finally finished except the cleaning. Had to replace multiple parts multiple times but finally working as it should. Barely able to fit everything into the housing.

    Lessons Learned:
    1) Always test components individually after soldering (from original fire switch failure)
    2) Calibtate the LED DVM before installation (self explanatory)
    3) Don't flex Potentiometer leads, they break easily (self explanatory)
    4) Use the right tool for the job (center punch - couldn't find and freehand drilled holes, wrong Dremel cutting wheel for meter opening, and drill bit just one size too small for replacement button)
    5) Always me mindful to protecting the finish on the Mid Box (protective tape, towel, paper towels, or multiple things to keep from scratching finish)
    6) Laser engraving/etching should be the last thing done, not the first (related to #5 anbe)
    7) Don't use heaver gauge (oversized) wire just because you think bigger is better (it takes up space!)
    8) Case size does matter, allow extra!

Actually does really well! It has a slight audible high pitch whine. Unregulated I have a 0.2 volts drop so roughly 98% efficient in unregulated so that’s where I can improve a bit with time.
